HI-Iberia presented ARGOS at the 2nd National R&D Congress of Defence and Security 2014 (DESEi+d 2014) celebrated from November 6th to 7th in the General Military Academy of Zaragoza, Spain.
DESEi+d 2014 aims at gathering R&D groups of Spanish universities, Public Research Bodies, companies an R&D groups of Spanish Armed Forces and Security Bodies to promote the technological research and innovation carried out in the field of Defence and Security, to share experiences and knowledge, and to foster future collaborations between different stakeholders.
To achieve this goal, DESEi+d 2014 was structured in three parts: the first one where experts from institutions, universities and companies provided a strategic vision of R&D in the field of Defence and Security; the second one about successful stories of R&D in Defence and Security; and finally, the third one where HI-Iberia, among others companies and R&D groups, showed the technological research and innovation which ARGOS is carrying out.
At this point, HI-Iberia presented the ARGOS' objectives and the progress achieved along this first year of the project. So, it was explained the general architecture of the ARGOS solution, detailing in depth each of existing smart sensors and each of Smart Engine modules; and the potential application scenarios, including how such scenarios will be demonstrated in the field trials in Bucharest and Athens.
ARGOS attracted the interest of the audience when presenting the use of ARGOS solution as an early warning system capable of anticipating potential threats by improving the effectiveness of current security systems, which was very commented among the audience.
Therefore, the impact of ARGOS at DESEi+D 2014 could be considered as successful since, on one hand, Spanish Armed Forces and Security Bodies are now aware of the existence of ARGOS and its benefits, and on the other hand, it made evident that ARGOS could be also applied to the existing military infrastructures by observing the interest showed by the audience.
