ARGOS Clustering with PROACTIVE Project

The PRedictive reasOning and multi-source fusion empowering AntiCipation of attacks and Terrorist actions In Urban EnVironmEnts (PROACTIVE) FP7 Project workshop themed “Models and architectures for emergency management” was organized in February 19th and 20th, 2015 by Consorzio Milano Ricerche and University of Milano Bicocca, Italy in Milan.
The main goal of PROACTIVE project is to research a holistic citizen-friendly multi sensor fusion and intelligent reasoning framework enabling the prediction, detection, understanding and efficient response to terrorist interests, goals and courses of actions in an urban environment. To this end, PROACTIVE will rely on the fusion of both static knowledge (i.e. intelligence information) and dynamic information (i.e. data observed from sensors deployed in the urban environment)..

The workshop was largely based on the results obtained in a national (Italian) and European research projects, in particular the FP7 PROACTIVE and INSYEME (Integrated Systems for Emergencies) projects. The PROACTIVE framework incorporates advanced reasoning techniques in order to intelligently process and derive high-level semantics from a multitude of source streams. The workshop also focused on the new collective intelligence approach for supporting security and resilience, which involves in the same loop citizens and law enforcement officers, extending the sensing capabilities of the system through “human sensors” and two-way communications with citizens.

ARGOS project aims, results, and achievements consisted a part of the PROACTIVE project workshop presentations. The ARGOS solution was presented by project partner KEMEA’s representative, with presentations titled: “The ARGOS project: a case for enhancing the protection of critical infrastructures” prepared by partner NCSRD and “Data Mining Techniques Empowering Automated Early Warning System for Critical Infrastructure Protection – the ARGOS case” prepared by partners AIT and THALES .

The PROACTIVE workshop was attended by an audience of 30 attendants and ARGOS project representative had the opportunity to exchange views on approaches and relative solutions for the protection of critical assets with the other participants, as well as to discuss with PROACTIVE Consortium and other invited stakeholders concerning the ARGOS solution and future field demonstrations.
